Traveling to NYC requires a knowledge of the foods available to you. If you are going between two of America’s best cities on a constant basis, a deep understanding of the tastiest spots around is an absolute necessity. Though it’s impossible for us to chronicle each amazing food spot in just one blog post, we are going to highlight a few that we think you deserve to know about.
Daily Provisions
Who doesn’t love donuts? There’s no better breakfast on the go than a good donut, and Daily Provisions has the best crullers in the whole city. Don’t want them for breakfast? Go for a snack, grab a sandwich for lunch, or swing by for dessert. Daily Provisions doesn’t discriminate. For sandwiches, try an egg sandwich or the roast beef sandwich, depending on the time of the day. You can find this eatery on E 19th Street, and it is well worth the trip.
Rubirosa
Let me say something with no hyperbole: Rubirosa has the best pizza I have ever eaten in my whole life, bar none. It is a little pricy. There is always a wait. But Rubirosa has the best pizza in the world. You have to make sure it is their vodka pizza, as well. It is a flavor I have never been partial to; I’m more of a classic pepperoni and marinara kind of guy. But if I had the choice to eat in one place for the rest of my life, it would be at Rubirosa. Get a group together and make a reservation for this Italian restaurant on Mulberry Street.
Nur
Have you ever had fine Israeli cuisine? You will if you go to Nur. Over on E 20th Street, you may be jockeying for a reservation but it will be well worth it. Chef Meir Adoni, who runs multiple restaurants while living abroad, has blended a unique mix of Middle Eastern cuisine in this restaurant. Qatayef, folded pancakes with stuffed lamb, is a great option, along with the chocolate cassata for dinner. Be courageous and try it out. You won’t regret it.
Taiyaki NYC
We had to include one spot that was super Instagram-friendly, and no place may be more Instagrammable than Taiyaki NYC. You may be asking yourself, what is taiyaki? It all comes down to this: fish-shaped cones. That’s right, they’re specially-made cones (made from almonds and cream) that are filled with delicious ice cream and decorated to look amazing. If ice cream isn’t your bag, how about some fluffy pancakes? No matter what you get here, you won’t regret it. What’s best is that the wait is super short! Five minutes and you’ll have one of NYC’s best desserts!
