We know how it goes. After a long week of work, all you want to do is go somewhere where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy the company of friends and a cold drink. Often, you find yourself either going to the same haunts or jumping between so many different pubs that you can’t so much as relax for a moment. That’s why we decided to put together a few of the best bars that Boston boasts so that the next time you’re out with your friends, you can make sure it’s the kind of night out that you deserve.
The ultimate sports bar, The Banshee is the perfect place to grab a pint and cheer on your favorite soccer team. The establishment prides itself on being the best place to watch both domestic and European sports, featuring two floors of televised action. Even if you aren’t the biggest sports fan, the food and live music will be enough to win you over. Try one of their Dorchester Coffees or, if you’re a classicist, a cold pint of Guinness.
The perfect place to celebrate Boston’s favorite monument,
The Bleacher Bar offers the best free view of Fenway Park. Via a retractable
door, you can sit down, have a drink, and watch a game from the ground level
without even paying for a ticket! It’s also a great place to visit outside of
baseball, as it’s just an amazing view and has some great drinks and
sandwiches. The combo of a Sam Seasonal and their
“The Biz” sandwich is a tasty home run.
Imagine if Dave and Buster’s had food that was cheaper yet tastier and had much more inventive cocktails. Now, imagine no longer, because you’re just thinking about A4cade, one of the most popular speakeasy style bars in the city. Just walk past the freezer doors and you’ll be welcomed with a bunch of retro arcade games from The Simpsons to Mortal Kombat. Try a Sipper McGavin (but only if Grizzly Adams has a beard) and a Green Muenster Melt.
No list of great bars would be complete without at least one dive bar and The Tam might just be the best one there is. If you’re a sucker for a grungy atmosphere, cheap prices, and bartenders that like to pour a little heavier than average, then this is the place for you. Be forewarned: it’s a cash-only bar, so make sure you bring some money along or be prepared to withdraw from their ATM. But a great staff and an amazing jukebox selection make this bar one you’d be happy to dive into.
Boston is home to so many other amazing bars, but these are four bars you do not want to miss. Make sure you stop by the next time you’re in the city. As for getting to the city?
