Mixing It Up in May

by administrator April 29, 2019 No Comments

With May comes perhaps the most optimal weather of the year. Not yet too hot, but the chill of winter has departed us for good. And as such, there is a multitude of different activities to indulge in throughout the two great cities of New York and Boston. We’ve gone ahead and identified some of the events you’re going to want to find yourself at. Of course, we write blog posts weekly, so you can be sure to see updates on anything else that crops up through the month.

Japan Day in NYC

Many of the best celebrations are cultural celebrations and Japan Day is no exception. The biggest Japanese cultural celebration in the city is also one of the biggest blowouts of the season. Popular mascots will be out en masse, fun activities like learning origami and calligraphy are available for the whole family, traditional cuisine like Gyoza dumplings and Onigiri rice balls are available, and musical performances will be going throughout the whole day. There’s so much fun to be had for everyone in the whole family, so make sure you find your way down to this festival on May 12th at Central Park!

New York Beer Fest

Family-friendly events are great for the little ones, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to leave them behind and have a day of play with other adults. And that’s exactly what the New York Beer Fest is all about. Held at the home of the Mets, Citi Field, the NY Beer Fest is starting to cement itself as one of the city’s most talked about festival. For just $50, you can sample over 200 beers from 80 different craft breweries. Food is available for pairings and, for the baseball heads out there, tours of the field and dugouts are available. Make sure you see where this one is going.

Boston Calling 2019

Forget Coachella, the best festivals are ones you can go to while still being in the middle of civilization. None embody that more than Boston Calling, the indie/pop rock festival that calls the Harvard Athletic Complex its home. Headliners this year are Twenty One Pilots, Travis Scott, and Tame Impala. Starting May 24th, tickets are still available for this amazing event. Get yours now!

Independent Film Festival

Running until May 2nd, the Independent Film Festival is where some of the most daring new voices in filmmaking display their best work. If you are a lover of new cinema and want to support developing artists, this isn’t something you’re going to want to miss. Book your tickets now!

These are just a few of the amazing events that are going on in this month. May is sure to hold plenty of surprises, so don’t wait! Buy your tickets to these events, figure out your trips, and book your Lucky Star tickets to make sure you get there!
